Bport Library / Newfield Branch
Newfield Branch Library is a neighborhood library, located at the intersection of Stratford and Central Avenues. Most of our patrons live in the East End, and we also work closely with area schools, childcare providers, and community centers and agencies.
We provide library materials for every age group and every interest level. We own about 23,000 books, 2000 audiovisual materials (DVD's and videos, CD's, CD-ROM's, Talking Books and audiocassettes), many magazines and several newspapers.
Our electronic resources include Internet stations, word processors, and one children's computer with educational games. We also have 8 laptop computers, which are used for our "Study Room" homework help program and for training purposes.
Newfield Branch Library offers many interesting regular programs for children, teens and adults like pre-school story hours, book clubs, study room, movies, crafts, a quilting group and special programs during school holidays and vacations. Most of our programs take place in our Community Room which seats 25 people. This room is also used for Health Fairs and for meetings of local non-profit organizations like the Girl Scouts.

Books Our Newfield Neighbor's Love
Reading books is great, sharing books is better! Beginning this year the Newfield Branch staff encourages patrons to share the titles of their all time favorite books with our neighbors in Bridgeport and around the globe.
Each month one of our neighbors will contribute their choice of up to five favorite books. This program is already off to a great start! Our own Ted Meekins, of the East End Community Council, is proud to inaugurate this new program. Bill “Postmaster” Eaton will take the spotlight during February, 2008.
Highlight your own favorite books and become part of our "Books Our Newfield Neighbors Love" display! All ages are invited to participate.
Book choices will be displayed in the Newfield Branch and posted online. At the end of the year all the books, and contributors names, will be compiled into a special take-home bibliography.
To take part visit the Newfield Branch. You may also sign up by calling Community Relations Librarian, Michael Bielawa at 203 576-7413 or emailing him at mbielawa@bridgeportpubliclibrary.org
